Hambleton COVID-19 Vaccination Update - Jan 29
Eight GP surgeries in Hambleton have worked together to set up the COVID-19 vaccination centre at The Forum in Northallerton.
We have been vaccinating our most vulnerable patients since just before Christmas. Although vaccine supply hasn’t been as much as we would have liked, we have still vaccinated more than 7500 patients.
For next week, the supply is improving and we expect to be able to offer a first dose to all Hambleton residents in the first four cohorts (over the age of 70 or clinically extremely vulnerable in the next two to three weeks).
We are aware many patients are receiving letters and in some cases phone calls from the NHS inviting them to book in for a COVID-19 vaccine at a ‘mass vaccination’ site, the nearest of which is York. It is your choice as to whether you take up the offer of an appointment in York, or prefer to receive your vaccine more locally. It is generally expected that you'll receive your second vaccine from the same place as the first. If you would prefer to attend The Forum because this is more convenient for you, we will contact you in due course to offer you an appointment. Simply disregard the mass vaccination letter and wait to receive a text or call from your surgery.
The invitations to mass vaccination centres are being managed nationally and GP surgeries have no knowledge of who has received a letter or who has booked an appointment. We will get told once you have received a vaccine. If you have booked an appointment in York and then receive an invite from your surgery and would prefer to receive your vaccine locally, this is ok but please cancel your appointment at York so that it can be offered to someone else.
